Johnny greeted us with coffee and
scones before we set off, by car, for the car park at the shore in Irvine. The
morning was bright, but there was a stiff breeze against us as we made our way
along the beach to Barassie. We took some time to pause at the benches for some
of our members to have a snack before setting off on the return journey,
thankfully with the wind behind us. The beach was reasonably busy with walkers,
taking advantage of the dry weather, and getting out to get the cobwebs blown
away.
We were back at the cars about two
and three-quarter hours after having begun our walk, and soon we were back at
Johnny’s to celebrate Octoberfest. As usual, our host had done us proud with
excellent stovies followed by pies and snacks, all accompanied by a selection
of ales from the Nythva Brewery. Special mention goes to the chef’s sweet onion
pickle which was well received. Mind you, a certain gentleman from Darvel gleefully
accepted the offer thinking, erroneously, having misheard, that he was going to
get a pie and a tickle. (What goes on in Mosset, stays in Mosset. Aye right!).A great afternoon was had, and thanks, yet again, goes to Johnny for his gracious hospitality. Roll on Novemberfest!
