Erskine Bridge to Clydebank 28 February

Davie C, Dougie, Graham, Gus, Hugh, Johnny, Kenny R, Malcolm, Rex

The Kilmarnock car had missed the turning to the garden centre and had to go over the bridge before managing to turn round, but still, the guys were there in good time for a coffee and scone before setting out over the bridge. Visibility was poor due to the low, damp cloud but thankfully the heavy rain did not materialise. Those at the front set a fast pace and by midday all were present at McMonagles for lunch i.e. fish/black pudding suppers. Given the dreich day the lunches were consumed inside the boat on the seats at the servery.

On the way back along the canal path the group were strung out again, but all were at the cars just before two o’clock having covered nine miles. Kenny headed for home as did Malcolm and Johnny (Malcolm needed home early) but Malcolm took the wrong turning and headed over the bridge! The remainder headed for FRT.
